Vietnam book ?'s Day 1

Look up both words in the title of the short essay. What do they mean?

Dubious - a doubtful or questionable remark.

Crusade - an exiting fight.

Relate the title to the reading. What is Warren saying? How do you think this will relate to the rest of our study if Vietnam?

he is wondering if we knew what we were doing fighting on the otherside of the world. it wasn't are war. it will all relate to what we will talk about for the next week. how we finaly lost a war. and why we were over there in the the firs place.

What is the overall theme of Vuong-Riddick's poem?

the overall theam is allies. he listed all of the different alies in order by time.

What is the main thesis of the essay?

The main thesis is that the war was an overall controversy.

What was the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution?

It gave the pressedent approval by congress to defend the united states interests in the areas of the attacs.

What evidence does the author give to support his thesis?

there are some critics in the senate.
there was a very one sided vote on the resolution
there was no need for the involvement because there was no act of agression tward the united states.

How does this link to the theme of the first reading, “A Dubious Crusade”?

The two readings have the same type of main thesis. they thisis for doubious crusad was that it was a questionable war for us to get into and the thesis for the 3rd reading was that the war was a controversy. mainly the same ideas.
